School-owned Instruments for the Summer

For those of you who are interested in obtaining a school-owned instrument over the summer, we have very few available at this time.  Most of the instruments have been sent to the repair shop for cleaning and basic maintenance, and they will not be returned to East Cobb until early August.  If you have already turned in a summer instrument form (green), Ms. Pezold will be contacting you within the next week about the status of your request.

Beginning of the Year Information 2011-2012!!

First of all, we welcome Dr. Andrea Strauss to the Band Program here at East Cobb -- she brings an extensive amount of experience with her & we are delighted to have her join us!!

Syllabus.  All band students received an orange packet of information that highlights all you need to know about being in the band at East Cobb.  Pages marked with an "X" in the top, right-hand corner need to be filled out and returned.  Here is the syllabus that you can download: Download Syllabus 1112

Lockers.  We are fortunate here at East Cobb to have a large selection of instrument lockers for students to use, and many students will be using lockers this year to store their instruments.  The locker form is yellow and needs to be signed and returned before a student will be issued a locker. School-owned instruments.  We are aware that situations arise and students need to use a school-owned instrument.  Sometimes the reasons are financial in nature; sometimes the student's choice of instrument is more conducive for using a school-owned instrument.  Before we issue school-owned instruments, we would like for students and parents to be as educated as possible regarding the costs of renting/purchasing an instrument.  Please be aware that we do NOT have any school-owned alto saxophones or percussion kits. Also, please note that if your student is issued a school-owned instrument, you will still need to provide your child the appropriate book and other accessories that he/she needs in order to play his/her instrument.  Here are the two forms that need to be filled out in order to start the process of securing a school-owned instrument: Download Application for School Instrument 2011-2012; Download Instrument Checkout Form

Medical Form/Blanket Permission Form.  In addition, the Medical Release Form was handed out separately (it is green) and needs to be notarized.  Notary service is available in many places, such as grocery stores, banks, post offices, our own main office here at East Cobb, and many office places.   Download 0910 Medical Form

Band Uniform.  All band students will  need to wear the East Cobb Band Shirt for performances, which is a navy blue polo shirt with the ECMS Band logo.  Order forms were made available to all students during the first two weeks of school and are available in the band room.  Forms need to be turned in to the white box in the front of the band room and payment needs to be placed in the school money envelope and placed in the safe next to the Media Center.  7th & 8th graders will have additional requirements for the LGPE performances, which are listed in the orange syllabus packet.  Here is the form to order a navy blue polo shirt (jackets are optional):  Download 0910 Shirt Order Form

Band Shirt Orders

Thanks to the many students who already placed their orders and paid the fees for their Band shirts.  We greatly appreciate your meeting the deadline for orders!!!  We anticipate that your shirts and jackets will arrive within the next few weeks.

If you were unable to meet the deadline for orders and payments for the shirts and jackets.  We will placing a final shirt order in the coming weeks.  Deadline for orders and payments is October 1.  Please be sure to turn in order forms in the Band room; make sure that payments are placed in the school money envelopes and labeled "Band shirt."  This deadline of October 1 will not be extended for any reason.  Shirts will not be ordered for students unless they have turned in an order form and paid the fee.
